Dry Skin: Natural Skin Care Products For This Type Of Skin

By:

You may not be aware that dry skin has several disadvantages. Since it lacks moisture and natural oils, it is more susceptible to premature aging and begins to wrinkle fairly early on. This is usually treatable, but the problem is that dry skin is often very sensitive to traditional skin care products and harsh ingredients.

Furthermore, dry skin has two subtypes which often need to be treated separately. These subtypes are normal dry skin and extremely dry skin. You may think it's a bit exaggerated, but it's necessary to treat these skin types differently.

Taking Care of Normal Dry Skin

First of all let's start with the appropriate dry skin routine. Soapy cleansers are not a good choice for dry skin especially considering that soap and water are known to strip both natural oils and moisture from your skin.

People with dry skin should use a cream cleanser. Cream cleansers will help remove debris from your skin without stealing excess moisture. Once you've finished cleansing, use an alcohol free toner to refresh your skin and remove any debris that may have been left behind.

Your dry skin care should be rounded off with a good moisturizing cream that should be reapplied as many times as you need it during the day. Also remember to exfoliate at least once a week. You can do this by using exfoliating creams or by using a homemade mixture based on grapefruit juice and oatmeal.

Learn How to Take Care of Very Dry Skin

If your skin still feels tight and itchy after you perform the previously mentioned cleansing routine then you have very dry skin. In this case, switch over to oils, not oil-based products, but actual oil. Both olive oil and rose hip oil are great choices when trying to treat very dry skin.

Switch your cream cleanser for olive oil. Spread and lather the oil on your face. Once you let the oil set for a minute or two you should take a relatively hot, moist towel and place it on your face. Let it sit a few minutes while it cools off and then, gently wipe off the oil using the moist towel.

Use a creamy moisturizer immediately after, or apply some rose hip seed oil. This product will absorb quickly and lock in the moisture. This is all you'll need to keep your skin moist and looking young.

Milk is a very unorthodox natural product for dry skin used to exfoliate it naturally. However, be sure to moisturize immediately after having exfoliated because milk will tighten your skin abruptly.

Finding the right natural skin care products may require some trial and error, however, the results are well worth the effort.
