Driving In And Around West Yorkshire

When travelling around in West Yorkshire it is wise to go by car, or if weather is permitting then by motorbike. West Yorkshire is located in the western part of Yorkshire in the northern region of England.

Their are many things to do and the area is quite vast so public transport will not be as effective as driving yourself.

Having the freedom of your own vehicle is essential. Before driving please make sure you check the engine oil levels and tyre pressure levels. Go to your nearest garage and check tyre pressure, most air machines will have a chart informing you of the correct air levels for your car make/model.

If you can not find the correct air pressure levels then consult your handbook which will advise you. Also its wise to check your screen washer bottle is topped up.

The principle town of West Yorkshire is Leeds, which has won the prestigious UK Visitor City of the Year many many times now along with other accolades.

Leeds-Bradford International Airport is within the boundaries of West Yorkshire, you can hire a car here if need be. There are some very good historic sites and places of interest for the visitor to West Yorkshire to exploit.

By far The most impressive of these is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Titus Salt's Mill in Bradford. Leeds town hall is also another splendid building displaying impressive architecture, when driving their you should be able to find parking within a short walking distance of both of these sites.

One of the real oddities of a visit to West Yorkshire is to take a trip to Emly Moor and see the tall TV mast which has been erected there, this is the tallest self supporting structure to be found anywhere in England.

Combine this sightseeing trip with a gentle stroll through Harewood Estate, park the car and take a walk, with a myriad of public footpaths winding through the landscaped gardens.

If you need to book a driving lesson you will find plenty of driving schools and driving instructors in the area and most have their own websites so a quick Google search should find one.

When choosing a driving instructor make sure you do a few checks to be sure that the instructor has the correct qualifications. The driving standards agency, a government run agency, has a list of qualified instructors for you to reference.
