Driving In And Around The City Of London

By:

When driving in and around the City of London it is advisable that you are quite a skilled drive as the traffic is quite intense making a normal trip quite difficult.

The City of London is a small area of Greater London, approximately a mile square in size, and almost every part of the city can be reached by using your vehicle.

This is the original part of London which used to be completely contained within the old city walls. London is often thought to be a large sprawling metropolis, but in fact the city boundaries have never been increased in size, the real City of London is entirely contain within this area, with Greater London falling outside of it.

The City of London is also a very influential financial area, with the Bank of England being located in Threadneedle Street. One of the most startling buildings to be found in the area is St Paul's Cathedral, a huge domed gothic style cathedral which was originally designed by Sir Christopher Wren.

There is a small entrance fee charge for visitors, and guided tours are available. Park your car right outside, as ample parking is available.

Arguably the most well known criminal court in the world, the Old Bailey can be visited by members of the public, although make sure to leave the cell phones or cameras at home as these are not allowed inside.

If you leave these or any other possessions in your vehicle please make sure you lock them away safe and out of site. Most cars have a lockable glove-box, make sure nobody sees you lock goods away.

If you dont fancy using the glove-box then lock your items in the boot of the vehicle and make sure they are covered.

Originally constructed in 1907 the Old Bailey building was further extended in 1970. The official residence of the Lord Mayor of London is Mansion House, constructed in 1973 it has recently been renovated and is now open to the public although visits are restricted to small organised groups.

For a taste of London history and culture then a visit to the Museum of London is well worth a go, paying homage to over 2,000 years of the City of London. Each November the City of London presents the Lord Mayor's how, when a new Mayor is appointed, one of the largest processions to take place in the UK.

If you have not yet passed your driving test then you need to find a driving instructor or driving school. London has hundreds of driving instructors. You can find one on-line or maybe ask friends whom already drive to recommend one for you.

Once you have learnt to drive you need to take a driving test which you can arrange on-line by visiting the driving standards agency.
