Driving In And Around Bradford City

Bradford is located in West Yorkshire and is statistically one of the tenth largest cities in the United Kingdom. Preferably you would want to explore this large city in the luxury of your own vehicle.

The City of Bradford was originally constructed on the site of a shallow ford across a wide river by the Saxons, and carried the name "Broad Ford", over time this has been shortened to Bradford.

Bradford has a few unique attractions that cannot be found elsewhere in the UK. Little Germany is an area of the city which exhibits unique architecture and dates back to the days of the wool trade in 1855.

Located within Bradford is the smaller town of Saltaire, this is a very well preserved example of an industrial town of the 19th century and has been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Bradford is well known for its excellent arts facilities such as the Alhambra Theatre and the University Theatre in the Mill, both of which are excellent venues for arts lovers, get even more enjoyment from an evening of theatre by arriving in your own rented limo.

Bradford also has a proud sporting heritage with both a football team and rugby club respectively. The football team are in the First division and have won promotion to the Premier league on a few occasions. Visit them on match-day and soak up the atmosphere.

Another great day out is to visit the Bradford Bulls (Rugby), search on-line for tickets and more information.

One of the more lively events to be found in Bradford is the Skewed Circus which takes place regularly in the Bradford Hilton Hotel. This event aims to recreate the experience of the Bradford Festival.

Bradford shares its only major airport with Leeds, and a regular bus connection ferries passengers from the Bradford City centre to the Leeds-Bradford International Airport every 30 minutes.

Access to Bradford by car is via two motorways. The M62 is the major link road, although the local M606 has been constructed to facilitate easier access into the centre of Bradford.

As always whenever you are planning a journey by car you need to plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time to arrive at your destination.

I am sure you will agree that driving in and around Bradford is fun and the place is packed with things to do and see.
