Dressing Up With Solid Color Neck Ties

By:

So you have a few solid colored ties in greys, blacks, whites and blues but don't really know how to get on with the entire ensemble. Getting your dress code right with a solid colored tie seems to be tricky it isnt so! Once you learn how to get the basics right, everything else will follow suit and fall in the right direction.

You will come across solid colored ties that are printed or woven, in a gamut of shades and different weaves. Ties that are solid and have no patterns are the easiest to match. Solid color ties are made from smooth, satin shine silk fabrics and look best with slightly smaller and asymmetrical necktie knots. If you are looking for a tie knot that will look best on your solid colored tie. The four in hand necktie knot and the Windsor knot are the best choices for these ties. For solid color ties, a dress shirt with a medium to narrow collar spread, and preferably no button down collars is ideal.

Solid color ties are the most formal but the ones that reigns supreme in formal ties are the black ties followed by silver and white. Choosing a necktie for your attire should not be difficult. Nonetheless you cannot avoid making mistakes sometimes and that is why you need to know how to match your tie with your attire so that you do not look a little odd.

Certain colors will blend well together while others will be a complete disaster and this should be the guiding factor when you try to apply a dress code for your solid color ties. Because you have quite a flexible color in solid color ties, it should not be very difficult to combine them. Most solid colors will combine easily with varied dress shirts and suits.

Red blue and black will go with a few red ties and you will need to add these to your collection. You will always look good when you have red in any of these since red has a way of turning our amazingly wonderful on most shirts especially against and fleecy white shirt or even on gray, black or navy blue suits. That's not all because you can still have the red tie on a gray, black or navy blue shirt.

A black necktie is a good addition to your tie collection because you can put it on with a white shirt. Black ties can be worn with white shirts. You can also wear a black tie on a pink, red or, light blue and definitely a gray shirt. Don't wear a white shit with black tie however unless the suit is patterned otherwise this might look too over formal.

Brown will easily be worn on any color although it has a way of looking better on light blue, green, pink, peach, orange, yellow or tan. Even ivory and brown will do okay. Some colors though are a little on the wrong side of brown and will not work with it. These are navy, gray or black. Never put off buying that stripped suit as it does well with a brown tie.

Pink can be good if you know how to combine it especially with charcoal gray and pale gray suits. If you have a silver tie clip and cufflinks, you will have matched this attire well. Don't try matching green with green in any form. Green will look good with browns and yellows. Blue ties will go with anything except green. Solid color neckties are great for shirts with patterns or stripes although too much pattern can be too much on the eye so never wear stripped or patterned ties with stripped shirts.
