Dressing Up For An Interview

By:

If you have an upcoming job interview, chances are you are probably a little nervous. Everyone wants to make a good first impression when meeting a potential employer. Getting it just right in an interview isn't all about answering questions well or coming up with the best responses. A lot of how an interview goes is based on how well an interviewee looks. This is not to say that only beautiful or skinner people get jobs. On the contrary. But any one looking for a new job should dress the part and come to an interview looking their best. Here are a few suggestions on how to get yourself looking just right for that big interview.

First, pay attention to detail. Pick out a suitable outfit and make sure you have thought of all the little things. For men, make sure you have the appropriate color of sock for your outfit. If you are wearing a dark suit, don't wear white socks. For women, make sure you accessorize your outfit tastefully and thoughtfully. Don't wear loud jewelry that calls to much attention to itself. Men, make sure your shoes are shined. If you don't have time to do it yourself, stop at a shoe shine station on your way to your interview. Women, make sure you wear the appropriate shoes for the occasion. Something conservative always works best.

Next take a look at your personal grooming habits and see if anything needs a refresher. For men, shave, or at least trim your beard to make it look neat. Women, get a nice hair cut or style before your interview. If you have long hair, make sure it is fixed in a way that doesn't call too much attention to it. Shower before you show up and make sure you think of those little things like deodorant or perfume.

A job interview is a chance for you to show a potential employer what you can bring to the table. How good you look will reflect on how confident you feel in the interview. Take some time before your interview to plan what you want to wear and to check for any last minute wardrobe changes. Going in feeling like you look your best will help you feel better about the interviewing process and will let you hold your head up high. Dress for success and plan on the best!
