Dressing For Colder Weather Tips For Men

By:

Are you one of those guys that hates the cold? Too bad. Unless you live in the tropics, it comes around every year whether you like it or not, so you might as well make the best of it. Colder weather allows you to wear more clothes and more clothes means more fashion. It isn't all about being dreary and bundled up. It is also about warm stylish winter coats, luxurious sweaters, and fashionable accessories such as scarves and gloves. Unless you are a workman who needs to wear gloves for his job, what other time of year do you get to wear gloves?

You can have a lot of fun selecting gloves that look good and feel good when you put them on. In the winter you should definitely wear gloves. Did you know that the viruses that cause the flu and colds can live on surfaces for up to an hour after someone who is infected has touched them? Think about that next time you take the subway or commuter bus, if you do that, or even when you go to the grocery store and push around a shopping cart.

You are just as likely to get these diseases from touching something as from having someone cough on you. At least if someone is coughing you can move or turn away from them, but there is no way to see where any people who are sick have actually touched when you come right behind them. The viruses are invisible to the naked eye. So be happy when it is cold enough outside to wear gloves and when you take them off be sure to frequently use hand sanitizer when touching things bare-handed.

Another part of dressing for colder weather is that you get to wear winter coats. These can be very stylish, made from mohair, fleece or wool, lined lambskin and leather, or utilitarian and sporty, like parkas, or for heavy cold weather like down jackets.

A long winter coat that goes down past the knees is a better choice than a parka for use in business settings or when you need to look properly dressed. Parkas and the like are great for shoveling snow or having a snow ball fight with the kids, but don't really have a place as business wear. Make sure if you buy a long winter coat that you buy one that is oversized for you, especially if you try it on during summer when all the winter coats are on sale.

We hope you are smart enough to know how to save money doing this as winter coats of a classic nature hardly ever go out of style. The reason why you buy an oversized winter coat is that you must be able to wear your suit under it or maybe instead of a jacket you might wear a thick sweater so your long outer winter coat must be long enough and big enough to accommodate all the clothes you might wear underneath. When you go shopping for winter clothes, be sure to get a couple of nice sweaters and a scarf or two that go with them as well. Now that you are used to it, you can always go back for more variety.
