Dremel Router Bits-are They Any Good?

By:

According to Dremel, it is utility, durability, and innovation that distinguish their router bits from those of other brands with similar product lines. With bits made of durable steel capable of operating at high speeds, Dremel products are designed to perform.

The steel used in Dremels router bits is considered slightly lower quality than the carbide used by some other manufacturers, but Dremel claims they are more than adequate to meet the needs of woodworkers engaged in multiple types of projects. Standard wood products were kept in mind when designing Dremel router bits so that Dremels tools can be matched to the materials that their customers use in their woodworking professions.

When using Dremel bits, just as with other brands, it is necessary to avoid whats known as chattering, when a the bit grinds against the wood in an undesirable fashion because the speed being used is too low. When using Dremel router bits, it is recommended that one increase the speed when chattering occurs.

The company produces numerous router bit products including the 652 3/16" Straight Router Bit for routing, inlaying, and motising, the 650 1/8" Straight Router Bit, 654 1/4" Straight Router Bit, 655 Keyhole Router Bit, 615 Corner Rounding Router Bit, 612 Piloted Beading Router Bit, 617 Core Box Router Bit, 640 V-Groove Router Bit, and the 618 Chamfer Router Bit to name some.

The 692 Router Bit Set offers bits for routing, inlaying, and mortising with a users rotary tools, and each bit is made from the durable steel so often promoted in Dremels sales literature. In total, this set comes with six different bits. Among them are the 3/32-inch piloted beading bit, 1/4-inch core box bit, and 1/2-inch chamfer bit, all of which come in a reusable plastic case for customer convenience. These bits are particularly useful for projects requiring a lot of detailed work.

Router bits, of course, are essential to the success of any serious woodcutting application, and all those who work with wood demand and need the best ones available for the job. For its customers, Dremel, much like its competitors, provides the convenience of router bit sets, allowing users to take advantage of particular categories of bits used often during similar projects.
