Drakensang The Dark Eye Is Only The Beginning

Drakensang The Dark Eye begins the epic saga of a well-crafted online video game. The classic theme of good vs. evil is brought to life using new themes and ideas. Players can choose from several different roles of heroes and play against or with others online. The game is free and those who have played Syberia or Myst will appreciate its 3D graphics.

Players can choose different settings for their characters actions. Some of the choices include Kingshill, the home of Prince Aldred, which is fortified. The Prince is missing and no one is talking. Grimmagstone, another place once known as a sleepy fishing village and supplier of peat from its nearby bog, is a choice for the fearless. The dark beings that seem to be coming from the peat bog have powers that may overthrow the settlement. Another locale for play is the Wiluxshire region. Known as an archaeology rich area, mysterious altars and even more mysterious beings are found here.

There are two primary roles for heroes. One uses physical skill and the other craft, magic and otherworldly techniques. The Dragonsknight is a highly trained and skilled warrior who has a choice of many types of weapons. If they even survive the training to become a knight, they must join the Order in a ritual involving blood-initiation. They learn to use the dragons tools of rage and the fire within to master their craft. The Dragonmaster commands them to rise up against their ancient enemy, the forces of the Anderworld.

The second choice for heroes is that of Spellweaver. Guided by a codex of ancient knowledge, the members of this order have isolated themselves from humanity for the most part. Their expert knowledge of how to manipulate fire, ices and lightning allow them to use these as tools in battle. They come forth out of the shadows to help crush the forces of evil.

The evil in this game is represented in several ways. The horrifying swamp monster rises from the bog and the ground rumbles as it approaches. Wearing its victims skulls around its neck like a strange trophy, it presents a nightmarish sight to its doomed victims.

Other beings are believed to be witches who have conducted bizarre experiments in secret locations. No one knows if these witches are human or they are some other type of being. They can bring on Andermagic attacks suddenly and destructively. They are assisted by gremlins that are hatched from eggs and carry out horrific plans.

Video game players who like epic sagas with lots of challenges and rich characters will appreciate Drakensang The Dark Eye.
