Dos And Don'ts Of A Sales Conference

By:

If this is the case here are some dos and don'ts of a sales conference that you could find very useful.

Do - make sure that you read up on successful conferences that are created around sales and the sales environment. By doing this you will know what you should be including in your conference and what is best avoided.

Don't - leave making your arrangements for your conference until the last minute. By doing this you will feel far too rushed and this could lead to a poor conference that your employees will not get very much from.

Do - use your conference as a chance to advise your staff about sales courses or sales programs that they might wish to attend. You might even want to give them a taster of what they can expect on these sessions during the conference as this can be very useful.

Don't - leave sections where you think that you will be able to fill in the blanks on the day. Unless you are a highly experienced speaker it is unlikely that you will be able to ad hoc your way through entire sections of a sales conference. People who do this will tend to find that they lose their audience which is one of the worst things that can happen when you are trying to run a successful conference.

Do - make sure that the conference facilities are you choose are suitable for the number of people that you have asked to attend. You need to make sure that all the attendees at your sales conference feel comfortable as this will make them much more likely to enjoy what you have got in store for them. You should also make sure that the refreshments that are on offer are easy to reach and in plentiful supply. This is even more important if you plan on running a conference that will last for the whole day.

Don't - assume that everyone who attends the conference will have the same level of knowledge of sales as everyone else. If you have sales teams that are senior and those that are lower you might want to think about splitting them up into groups. This way if you are planning on having any sales training courses in the conference you will have a good mix of abilities in each group.

Do - make your conference fun. No one enjoys attending conferences which are really dull and boring as these will create the wrong type of atmosphere. As you would on a sales course break the ice with attendees and make them know that they can contribute to the conference at any time as their thoughts and opinions are valid.
