When my mom was a teenager, she worked in a donut shop. Almost every day (very, very early) morning, she wakes up, put pink and orange uniform, and go to work to sell a warm, fresh donuts from a donut hole recipe for early-bird customers. That's where she met my dad, actually - he asked her on her first date, right in the store. Well, over the phone, really. Well, his friend asked her for him on the phone, really. Oh my God.

That's why I think I love donuts so much. If it were not for this treat, well, I would not be here. Besides, who does not like fried dough covered with icing or sweet warm glaze? For example, I never miss the opportunity for a good donut hole recipe. And these donut hole recipes are actually super easy to do, it only takes little time and it will come out positively delicious - I'm officially in donut heaven.

Why do take donut hole recipe instead of the actual donuts, you ask? Well, the donut hole takes little effort in shaping the dough - just plop a teaspoon of dough into hot oil, and voila! Instant donut treats! Actual treats take a little longer, but only slightly, so if you want to use this recipe to make those sweets then you can freely use it.

I like my rolling sweets in powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar mix, so they taste like snickerdoodles. You can play with this donut hole recipe if you like. Jelly-filled? No problem. Filled them up with your favorite jam in the middle of a teaspoon of the dough, pinch it closed and fry it in deep-fried for perfect goodness. Chocolate or strawberry frosting? This can be done, too. Just drop them in the glaze of post-Fry delights.

Although making your own donuts can prevent you from finding your own future love of your life at the donut shop that makes them at home every once in a while it's fun to have a treat for yourself. You can always visit the donut shop any time you want, you know!

Ingredients One and one half cups unbleached all-purpose flour

One half cup sugar

2 tablespoon baking powder

One half teaspoon nutmeg

A pinch of salt

2 eggs

1 cup milk

3 tablespoon melted butter

vegetable oil

1/2 cup sugar, for topping

3 tablespoon cinnamon for topping

1 cup confectioners sugar for topping

Directions

1. In bowl of stand mixer, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg and salt. Add the milk, egg, and melted butter and mix until well blended.

2. Fill a large skillet or medium bank with vegetable oil, about 2 inches deep. Using Fry Thermometer, Heat oil to 375 degrees F. Make sure it stays around that temperature every time you fry the dough.

3. Place cinnamon sugar (mixed together) and filling confectioners sugar in two separate small bowls. Set out a few folded paper towels near the stove for drying the donut hole, as well as cooling rack with parchment paper underneath.

4. When oil is ready, place about 5-6 teaspoons of dough at a time in the oil and fry each side for 1 minute (2 minutes total). Remove from oil and place on paper towel to absorb excess fat. Then, using a fork, roll the donut in any confectioners' sugar or cinnamon-sugar mixture. Then place on cooling rack to cool before serving, gently warm.

This simple recipe will not only satisfy your hunger and sweet tooth carvings but it will surely brings back a lot of wonderful childhood memories.
