Doncasters Telecomunications Cabinets Stay Graffiti Free.

Like most places Doncaster's telecommunications cabinets and street furniture have always been a target for vandals. Graffiti and fly posters often adorn these boxes and since there position is always prominent, on the corner of almost every major road junction, this vandalism can really bring an area down. It has even been suggested that over half the graffiti in any borough can be attributed to street furniture and cabinets.

Recognising this problem Doncaster's Flyposter, Litter and GRaffiti (FLAG) manager, Gareth Barwell contacted various cabinet owners and asked their permisson to apply an anti graffiti and fly poster coating to facilitate the speedy and complete removal of any subsequent vandalism.

Permission was granted and after reviewing several coatings the cabinet owners and FLAG settled on easy-on from Urban Hygiene. easy-on was chosen for its superior resistance to both fly posters and graffiti as well as its robust 20 year life.

Five years on and Doncaster's street furniture and telecom's cabinets still look as good as they did in their first year and have been regularly cleaned by Doncaster's graffiti team and a number of youth groups in the area.

Doncaster's cabinet protection was heralded as a complete success and has been repeated by councils the length and breadth of the UK and has even been replicated by the people in charge of the Kaloon railway in China.

easy-on has also helped in the resistance to UV degradation which has helped the cabinets to maintain there good looks and has been shown to resist the effects of uric acid (dog urine) which can often rust away the bottoms of the cabinets and make it necessary to completely replace them - a costly operation.
