Don't Let Holiday Stress And Anxiety Bring You Down!

By:

There are good and bad sides to the holiday season. Most of us look forward to it. But the people who are always on the front line of the holiday season, doing glass vases shopping, preparing meals, preparing the house for guests and attending numerous holiday parties might find this season physically, emotionally and mentally taxing.

What exactly causes holiday stress and how can we fight them?

High Expectations

A lot of people have high expectations of the holiday season. They want everything to go smoothly. They cram lots of activities in their schedule but fail to keep up with these activities. In other words, they bite off more than they can chew.

Try to bring your expectations down. Be more realistic about your goals this holiday season. Maybe you can't buy that new television set or maybe you really don't have the time to attend that party.

Poor Planning

We are chronic procrastinators. Most people put off planning their holiday itinerary because they think the holiday season is still months away. They only get into action when the season is already staring at them on the face. Try to plan your holiday itinerary weeks or months before. Make preparations for the meals you are going to prepare or make a list of the gifts you are going to buy.

Poor Health

Stress is caused by the hormones released by the body when we are anticipating difficulties or challenges. It can affect our health in a big way. If your constitution is poor to begin with, you can easily succumb to the effects of stress.

Try taking multivitamin supplements. Vitamin C gives you added energy so you can do more of the things you want to do this holiday season. It also protects you from viral and bacterial infections and diseases. Blood circulation-boosting supplements such as ginseng can also help improve your vitality.

Not Asking For Help

If you doubt your ability to complete all your holiday tasks in time, it is wise to seek the help of other people. Everything will go smoothly, mistakes can be lessened if there are more hands or more heads working on holiday projects.

Also, doing holiday tasks become more exciting and enjoyable if there is someone who is helping you out or accompanying you. This is the season to enjoy companionship with other people so make sure you have someone who can shop indoor fountains with you or pick the right holiday tree ornaments with you.
