Don't Dread Getting Older - How To Embrace Those Birthday Milestones

By:

Is this a BIG year for you? Are you turning 30, 40, 50 or 60? Did you already hit one of those so called significant milestones?

Emotions can be mixed as we get older and celebrate another birthday. You are no longer the little kid excited about your birthday and dreaming of the day you get older. I remember when I was in my twenties thinking wow 40 is so far away and so old. Now I think my 40's are the new 20's!

I am writing about birthdays because age is all perspective. What I mean by this is that you can be turning 60 and think, "Oh, I am getting so old that I can't do what I used to be able to do!" or you can do what you can do now and really enjoy doing those things. It may not be what you used to do but it could be something brand new!

I know someone at the age of 60 that decided to transform his body. He is eating healthier and enjoying new workout routines and his body is probably in better shape than when he was in his 30's. My husband knows a 78 year old man that is still skiing; and skiing better than a lot of 20 year olds. He is actually a mountain ambassador for Breckinridge ski resort in Colorado. Helping skiers and enjoying the slopes at 78 years old - even hitting the double black diamond's!

So whatever age you are turning let it be a time to celebrate who you have been and who you are now and who you want to be in the future. You may not be where you thought you would be at this point in your life, you may feel uneasy about getting "older" but there is one thing you can do for sure and that is embrace it!
Think about age with these fun adjectives . . .
*20 & Tenacious
*30 & Terrific
*40 & Fabulous
*50 & Fantastic
*60 & Sexy
*70 & Sensational
* 80 & Elegant
Nurture yourself and celebrate who you have become because if you didn't have all the years prior you wouldn't be who you are today!

Blow a candle out and make your wish! Happy Birthday!
