Don't Compromise How You Watch Quality Tv

By:

President Barack Obama has been in office for a little over a month now, and although millions of Americans across the nation had high hopes for what Obama could bring to the table, there are some who have already started to lose faith in him. He did promise that things would change and urged Americans to have hope for him, but he also did say that the economy would get worse before it got better.

Millions have already lost their jobs, and it's not uncommon to know someone who has been laid off or had their hours cut. In some cases, that someone could even be you or your spouse. A large percentage of people already were living paycheck to paycheck, so having less work hours or being laid off entirely and collecting unemployment has forced many to live below their means.

Food, housing payments, and utility bills should be the three most important things on your list. If you are still employed, then you will need to pay up your car payment and insurance. Everything else at this point is probably a luxury, and that could include your cell phone, your movie subscription, your TV service, your weekly gardener, and newspaper and magazine deliveries. Even eating out at restaurants, whether it is fast food or finer dining, will need to be cut out completely, as well as shopping sprees.

When it comes to how you watch TV, having less money does not mean that you will lose some quality TV time. In fact, canceling your cable or satellite service may be to your benefit in more ways than one. The obvious reason is that you will no longer have to pay for that costly fee every month. You will be able to use that extra money to buy food, pay off some bills, or save if things get even harder. Unless you are devoted to some of the specialty channels that only a satellite or cable provider can provide, then you are not missing much.

The most up to date antennas are capable of receiving channels that are being broadcast in digital, including the much sought after HD channels. Usually, HD channels will cost more or will need additional software if you are a cable or satellite subscriber, but with an antenna, you won't even need to fork out a penny. You can find a good indoor or outdoor antenna for as low as $50. Opt for the outdoor antenna since it will usually get better reception and less interference.

Like any investment, make sure you do your research before investing in your antenna because they are not all the same. Some will claim to have the best reception but will fall short when it is put to work. If possible, find an online retailer that offers customer support or visit an electronics store and speak to a knowledgeable sales associate.
