Don't Buy Hot Tubs Without A Warranty

By:

They really do make it just so easy to buy a hot tub without an extended warranty package today. But before we go into why it's such a bad idea, let's take a look at a couple of the reason why it is so easy to do it. Most people buy a hot tub without a thorough and complete multi-year warranty plan or perhaps bring one home with just a token one year dealers warranty and more often than not end up regretting that choice.

So the first thing that makes it so easy to do is today's hot tubs are a far better product than what you would've found on the market even just a handful years ago. Better materials, better manufacturing techniques, and years of studying what can go wrong means that the hot tub you buy today can be expected to last years longer than the product of yesteryear.

So then why spend that extra money on a warranty when you can perhaps invest in a few extra features on your shiny new spa? The answer to this is yes today's spa is by far the superior product but even so, they're far from perfect. You see, if you were to look at it exploded diagram you would start to get some idea of just how many parts and components go into one. Pump, jets, seals, filters, plumbing and all its components, water heater, and the list just goes on and on with so many little moving parts that have the potential for causing big problems. So even if you buy the best hot tub available on the market today you're still going to need an extended warranty package.

Reason number two that makes it so easy to sign a sales contract that doesn't contain a complete extended warranty package, is that parts have gotten so much cheaper to buy. It's just like so many other consumer products you can buy today, such as home electronics.

Certainly when factoring in inflation prices that have plummeted to ridiculously low levels recently, particularly when it comes to so many of the electrical components contained in today's hot tubs, who needs a warranty when you can pick up spare parts for so cheap if something should go wrong?

The answer here is that you need an expensive warranty because while parts may be relatively cheap now, labour isn't, and in fact it's shot up over the years. Should you're hot tub develop any sort of problem you can easily look to spend between 50 and 75 an hour to have someone come out to work on it, and don't expect any repair job to be quick. Particularly if your problem is a leak, which happens to be one of the more common repair issues to be dealt with in even the better made hot tubs on the market.

Don't kid yourself because it's not uncommon to spend four, five, or six hours simply locating a leak in hot tub, and then it has to be drained and prepared. Then who's to say another leak isn't going to spring up perhaps a year or so down the road? So in light of the potential nightmare that hot tub repair projects can be, the wise move really is to protect yourself with an extensive warranty plan that will allow you to sleep well at night.
