Don't Be Discouraged! Get Your Cruise Ship Job Application Moving Now!

By:

Applying for a cruise ship job can be a frustrating affair. Not only do you know that there are hundreds of other candidates out there all applying for the same dream job, but quite often you can also be put off by the actual adverts before you have even got around to applying.

This is a common trick employed by cruise line companies to prevent all but the best applications landing on their desks. They actually design their cruise ship job adverts to discourage people from applying. It seems as though they're cutting their noses to spite their faces, doesn't it? But the logic is simple. If they receive hundreds of applications, they can guarantee that many of these will just be a waste of their time. So if they can prevent the weakest applications from arriving then they are going to make their jobs easier.

It is quite common to find an advert for a cruise ship job that may be for a position that you think would suit you. But after reading the details of the advert, you will discover that the company is looking for a university degree, no less than three years of experience in a similar role, fluency in at least two other languages, and even more demanding criteria.

Their aim is to discourage people and it has the desired effect. But the truth is you should not be put off by cruise ship job adverts like this. Quite often the cruise line companies use this as a technique to prevent too many people from applying for a position.

But if you think you have what it takes to get the job, then go for it! Send in a fantastic resume package and don't worry too much about all the skills they are asking for. Instead, highlight all the things you are good at and what would make you suitable for the job. Post it by snail mail so that it is delivered to them at their desks and then send a couple of follow up emails afterwards to back up your application.

They will be impressed by your determination, and in reality it is the people like you that they are looking for when it comes to filling their cruise ship job positions. It is near impossible to have all the skills listed in their advert, and if they were determined to fill their criteria, they would never hire anybody.

When they see your application they will know that you are one of the more serious jobseekers, and that you are prepared to make a special effort to get the cruise ship job that you're after. Do this and you're going to be in a great position, and remember that the worst that they could do is say "no".

The secret when looking for a cruise ship job is to just get going with your applications. Lots of people may share the dream, but the truth is many of them never get around to doing anything about it, and that is the biggest barrier in their way to getting a cruise ship job.

If you don't know where to start then just go on the internet and search for all the companies that you would like to work for. Write them all down, and then start looking at the individual positions on board the ships and work out which type of position would suit you best. There you go—you've made a start already!

Get going, get your application out there, and don't be put off by job adverts. If you've got what it takes to get a cruise ship job then just go for it and you'll have a greater chance of success.
