Knowing When you want HELP, No parent ever wants to admit they need help. Parents are supposed to be indestructible arent they? The pillar of the family cant be seen as needing help after all!
Well, thats just not true. We all need help, and effective parents know when you admit they want help. There are lots of different types of help, and there are lots of resources available that will help parents.
Sometimes it could be expensive to hire the kind of help that parents may need, such as household help. Some parents feel guilty about hiring someone to clean their homes or do their laundry. But parents who require assist with some things are not failures. Not even close to it! They are being responsible and recognizing that getting help is going to benefit the whole family.
Think of getting outside help running the household or getting outside parenting help in terms of a cost/time benefit analysis that you would get done by a business .
The price of not receiving help is increased stress, scheduling problems, an inefficient household and less time to devote to loved ones. The price of getting help, the monetary wages paid to individuals for services that can help result in the household run more smoothly, seems small in contrast. Sometimes parents have to put a monetary price on the price of their sanity and their stress levels.
When that happens it becomes cheaper to employ help rather than try and go without help and deal with the stress and physical problems that can result from stress.
There is also a cost to your kids if you discover the job of parenting overwhelming. If you're consumed with stress from a busy schedule and you are finding that dealing with the demands of parenting is just too hard, its OK to get some help.
You are not a failure as a parent if you ask for help. You are only a failure as a parent if you dont ask for help when you know you need it! Sometimes when parents get caught up in crisis at work or get stressed from your daily grind, it can be tough to be the loving, active, involved parents that they want to be. If you are having trouble finding a balance between your active career and your family then its a good idea to try and get some help.
