Don La Fontaine Voice Over Lab At The Sag Foundation

The Don LaFontaine Voice-Over Lab, a SAG Foundation resource facility honoring the late voice-over superstar, is officially opened last June 25th. The first of its kind, this high-quality production and educational facility,located at SAG Foundation Actors Center in Los Angeles, is designed specifically to benefit voice-over actors who want to work on their voice-over craft, demos and auditions. The facility also has classroom which will host workshops, seminars and demonstrations led by experts in the field.

Don LaFontaine is known as "King of the Movie Trailers" and "King of the Voice-Over". His is the voice you hear on the majority of the trailers or previews at movie theaters worldwide. His body of work included voice-over narrations for at least 5,000 film trailers and hundreds of thousands of television advertisements, network promotions, and video game trailers. He did voice-over work for over 40 years.

Don's personal engineer, George Whittam, oversaw the design and execution of the Lab and Don's wife, Nita Whitaker La Fontaine, fully endorsed the project.

The Screen Actors Guild Foundation is giving actors the tools they need to empower themselves as both artists and professionals. They offer seminars and workshops, financial assistance and scholarships, and their programs are offered free of charge to qualifying SAG members in good standing. The Lab features a prominent donor wall displaying all of the organizations and individuals who assisted in making this project a success.

Helping to make the lab a reality was an advisory board made of Joe Cipriano, Randy Thomas, Paul Pape, George Whittam, Townsend Coleman, Joshua Daugherty, George DelHoyo, Kevin Gershan, Vanessa Gilbert, Stew Herrera, Adam "Aejay'e" Jackson, Ben Patrick Johnson, Nita Whitaker LaFontaine, David Marc, Bill Ratner, Tony Rodgers, Rino Romano, Scott Rummell, Jim Tasker, Steve Tisherman, Sylvia Villagran and Beau Weaver.
