Teaching is like no other. Think of any other profession that can excite, exhilarate, infuriate, frustrate and fulfill all in a days worth. It goes without saying that you couldnt even come up with a single profession that can surmount teaching. Though people say it is one of the most demanding careers, it still proves to be the most rewarding.
Let me share one quote that has touched my life immensely: There are two great days in a persons life, the day you were born and the day you discover why. Through teaching, I am able to help children discover the great things in life, help them discover their potential and in turn, help make a difference in their lives. Now, that is rewarding.
Enough with the serious Heal the World theme and on to the real deal; I dont teach by choice, rather, I teach out of circumstance. You see, Ive tried my hand at a million other things. My diverse career path runs the gamut from modeling to
towing in Pittsburg. It wasnt after my stint at a
towing service in CA that I realized I was better off teaching at my alma mater. It was pretty much a sure deal, being an alumna and all. Though little did I know that once I got in, there was no getting out.
What do people say about teaching, again: exciting, rewarding and fulfilling? Well, the teaching bit is far from the above-mentioned but the perks are, indeed, like no other. Back when I was doing
car towing in California, I grabbed the opportunity to get back at my exes by

Now, as a respected English professor, power tripping comes in the form of playing eeny, meeny, miny, moe on my class list to determine who passes or fails the rather juvenile subject. Also, my reputation allows me to do just about anything I please when on-campus. I could bring outsiders in without bothering with a visitors pass; help my film student friends pass their subjects just by gracing my presence in their video projects and blackmail students whenever the need arises, to name but a few perks.
How could I possibly not enjoy all the benefits of teaching? I sure wouldnt want out, at least not anytime soon. I still enjoy walking the halls; wind blowing in my hair, Chamillionaires Ridin playing on crescendo in the background, students pretending to be busy so to avoid my bad, mean stare. Ha, I could get away with just about anything whilst on-campus. Oh, hold on a minute, if it isnt my car being taken away by
towing in Brentwood CA! They should know better than to mess with The Professor!
