Domestic Violence And Alcohol And Drug Abuse

By:

Alcohol and drug abuse addiction problem has become the second brain that many people are using to make all decisions.

Taking for example its ability to break the family ties shared by a particular couple to themselves, their children and other relatives.

In our own families, we have seen it ruining lives not to mention the number of close friends who are drowning in this river of darkness and hopelessness.

This article will discuss issues of domestic violence in connection to alcohol and drug abuse.

When both or one parent is an addict

Some decades back, husbands were known to drink alcohol or abuse other drugs as a way to escape the common scenario of marital problems in contrast to their wives.

Today things are different because women are worse than men in relation to acquiring fun or running away from their private issues by becoming addicts.

Internet in my opinion is one way that is used to heal the broken marriages or hearts by men especially, which is why females are forming the new alcohol and drug abuse statistics.

But when both or one parent becomes a proper addict, cases of domestic violence become very common in the homes such as fights, insults, and even murders.

Depending on what kind of an addict a parent become, the effects may vary. Some people will cause no fight unless provoked by their wives, husbands, kids or relatives.

But what if this persons behavior is causing intolerable crisis such as piling debts, unpaid children education, unpaid mortgage fees and so on because the victim is extravagant.

The other parent who does not drink may not be earning enough to meet all the family costs on their own.

Parents who become violent when drunk may even demand salaries earned by their spouses, sell household possession to pay alcohol and drugs debts.

If they loose their jobs because alcohol or drug abuse related issues, they bring this stress to their families, and because deep inside they realize how bad this is, causing violence is the best way of letting this out.

This is why we hear of broken marriages, murdered spouses or others committing suicide, cases of incest, infection with serious venereal virus and so on.

When children or a child become an addict

At times upbringing does not count in some case of teen addiction to alcohol and drugs, it just happens with one child and not the other.
But, the role of parents mentoring is great determinant of how the children will turnout to be later in their lives.

If they have been brought in the same environment where parents abuse drugs, fight, yell at each other and also do the same to the kids, chances are high that they would be the same in future and vice versa.

Handling a teenager who is an addict can be very difficult and embarrassing especially it they speak or do annoying things to you or the neighbors.

I once was a neighbor to a teen who used to fight his old mother and father when his head is high with drugs or alcohol.

No body knew where he learned such tactics of fighting; he refused to attend high school and he would demand money from parents to spend on alcohol and bhang, and if they lacked, he would threaten to kill them and inherit all their worth.
