Dog Clothing - Are You Serious?

I know for a lot of people including some dog owners think it seems crazy to buy dog clothing for a dog. I was one of them, but my dogs now have a dog coat each and dog pyjamas - seriously!

Dog Clothing for night wear seems even crazier considering we live in Queensland, Australia where the temperatures are warmer than the southern states, but we live in a pole house with wooden floor boards on the top of a hill about 2km from the ocean so it gets very cold especially at night and when the sea breezes are blowing.

Once I saw how my dogs were curling in a ball as tight as they could get in winter I figured it was time to consider some dog clothing that they could wear to bed. They now have pyjamas that are made from a polar fleece material that I slip over their heads and then put their front legs through. They have a convenient opening around the tummy for toileting and you know what my dogs love them!

Despite my dogs had never had dog clothing before they adapted very quickly and once I slip their pyjamas over their heads they dutifully left their legs one by one and one of my dogs even jumped up on the bedroom dresser and grabbed their pyjamas and brought them to us in the lounge room as if communicating that she wanted them on - I'm not joking this really happened.

There are a lot of people who are desperately trying to get their dogs out from under their doonas so they can claim there beds back, and buying some doggie pyjamas and a comfy dog bed might just work - if they are warm and comfortable there is less chance they will feel the need to dive in under the doona.

So if you have never considered dog clothing think again, there are many practical reasons to consider dog clothing for your dog. Maybe you will be a dog clothing convert like me?

The other great piece of dog apparel is a dog rain coat. There a lot of different options from a warm oilskin dog coat which offers warm as well as a waterproof protective material, but it is quite heavy so if you have a smaller dog or live in a warmer climate search out the lighter materials - there are some available that are just like a human spray jacket which are great but can be hard to find.
