Dog Boxes Are Like Prison

Imagine yourself out in the field, crouched down, eyes squinting, waiting. You are looking up into the sky as your eyes dart from side to side. You are on the edge of your seat, except that you are not sitting on a seat. The adrenaline is pumping through your body and the excitement is boiling inside you. Suddenly, you see it. Bang! One shot and that bird is down, spiraling to the earth a few hundred yards away. A satisfied smile involuntarily spans across your face, and you sit back a little and soak in your glory. You give Old Lassie the go ahead and he runs off in the direction of the fallen victim. Minutes later, he comes prancing back with your prize between his chops.

If this scenario sounds familiar, you must be a hunter. Now, there are two kinds of hunters in the world. There are those who hunt with their faithful dogs, and those who do not. If you are one who brings your dog with you, you will know of the friendship and bond that is created after a day out in the field. That dog truly becomes your best friend. Your dog is loyal and reliable to you, so why not treat him right in return?

Have you heard of Owens dog boxes? If you have not, let me first ask you this. If you were a dog, getting overly excited because it looks like Jim is getting ready to take you hunting, what could possibly be better than running outside to the truck, only to be put in a small aluminum box? You are a dog! You do not belong in a metal box. You belong in the front seat, next to Jim, head out the window, feeling the wind through your hair, with your tongue flopping and drool flying. If not in the front seat, why not in the bed of the truck? There is plenty of space back there. But no. You see a metal box, and you get shoved inside for the trip to the hunting turf. Sure there are air vents, but come on! Would you rather have to suck through a small hole for air or have it rushing at your face at fifty miles per hour?

If you love your dog, do not put them in a box. They deserve better. Get a box for you inanimate hunting gear that has no feelings or desires. Your dog is loyal to you and deserves to be by your side.
