Does The Diet Industry Want You To Fail?

By:

Over the years, as I've battled with my own weight issues (typical middle age battle of the bulge stuff really, nothing extraordinary). I've been researching tirelessly on various kinds of diet and weight loss programs. I've tested or spoken personally with people that have tried a variety of weight loss pills and supplements. A product that has either satisfied me in the long-term or those whom I have talked with is yet to be found. Is the problem beyond the reach of the diet pills and do these pills and quick fix diet plans really work? Does the diet industry want us to fail or is it our fault?

I've been researching a bit if diet pills are just a big scam or if it is indeed a viable option to lose weight. Everybody has seen 'Judy's (or Jennifer's or whomever's) Weight Loss Blog' with their insanely unbelievable before and after photos? Are they real people or just a gimmick to make me buy the products they're pushing? One study I came across in my research mentioned that 83% of dieters regain more weight than they had previously lost after only 2 years. I know it is depressing. These so called "miracle" diets are only be a temporary fix in the big scheme of things according to this fact. Are these diet companies, who appear as if they're trying to help us reach our goals, merely preying upon our ignorance, hopes and insecurities? In fact, maybe they never wanted us to succeed in the first place. Maybe they only want us to fail harder so that we'll pay more and more money to get temporary results that never stick. Our wallet is the only thing that sheds pounds while we line the pockets of these diet companies.

Who doesn't, myself included, wish to have the body of a movie star? The truth is that you've wished for it too. According to diet pill companies, it is possible whereas the fact is that we're never going to look like Demi Moore unless we pay to visit her plastic surgeon. Movie stars also have chefs, teams of personal trainers, and hours of free time to workout and burn away the fat. Now, if the diet industry might have something amazing if they could squeeze all that into a pill, but in today's world, such magic pills are not available. If you believe there is then I've also got some shares in a Nigerian gold mine to sell you.

The fact is, we have to make major lifestyle changes to meet our weight loss goals. Tough love, I know, but I have to say it. We need to know the concepts of dieting, controlling our wish to eat, know why and in the end, and make attempt to reach our goals. This will take time and discipline and it won't always be easy, but it is very possible. I have seen the results myself after making an effort, so why shouldn't you? Jenny's or Judy's weight losses have been faster than mine, but remember, slow and steady wins the race. So take some time everyday to formulate your plan and then act on it. Make the effort not just to lose weight, but to enjoy a healthier longer life. Those having kids like me will know how especially important this is. I'll be around for a long time and actively enjoying my grandchildren (even if it's many years away).
