So you are wondering if you will spend more on your Atlanta auto insurance if you wind up buying a red car. Well, you are not alone. Many people have wndered this very same thing.

An urban myth has been described by Wikipedia story thought to be true by those circulating it. It continues that these myths are not necessarily lies, but through the years the truth has been embellished a little bit.

So what is the truth... Is a red car the most expensive color car to insure?

You might be surprised to learn that a red car or truck isn't going to cost you a dime more than a white, silver or even a purple color vehicle for that matter. What is odd though is that close to one quarter of the drivers polled in a recent survey felt that a red car would definitely be more expensive to get a policy for. What was your answer?

The funny thing is that when shopping for an Atlanta insurance quote, the insurance company will not even ask you about the color of your car when they're pricing your quote! Instead they will ask you about what kind of car it is, where you live, etc.

So who came up with this idea that a red car is more expensive to insure?

Well many time the color red has been associated with "power". (Think of a red bull or a red dragon. Even business men will often put on a red "power" tie before a negotiation.) When it comes to cars, red is usually associated with young, fast, and crazy drivers in red sports cars. It's true, their insurance rates will cost more than others" but it's not because the car they chose is is red! It is because of their age, the number of speeding tickets, accidents and claims that young drivers statistically are credited with.

So if your heart is focused on a red car, then go for it! Just remember to watch your speed so that your Atlanta auto insurance premiums don't go up too. Just remember if they do go up... it won't be because you are driving a red car!
