Do's And Don't For New Neighbors In Salt Lake City

If you have recently moved to Salt Lake City, you have come to a place millions love and many wouldn't leave if someone paid them. SLC is filled with interesting culture and surrounded by natural beauty. Whether you are new to Utah or just moving around from another city, here are some tips to get you settled in to your new surroundings.

Do's and Don'ts of Living in SLC
1-Do explore the parks and museums in the city. The city has an interesting bunch of privately funded museums, including art galleries, children's museums, and science museums. Look around Universities in Salt Lake, Ogden, and Provo for hot spots of learning, where there tend to be more museums.

2-Don't forget to set up your new utilities a week before you move in. It's no fun to move into a new house or apartment with no hot water. Don't forget cable and Internet (only a small section of downtown SLC has Wi-Fi).

3-Do find new service professionals within a month or two of moving in. It's lousy to have your car break down before you've scoped out a new mechanic, and have to be looking through the city auto repair or Salt Lake City car repair in the yellow pages or on your phone, with no recommendations to go on.

4-Do appreciate that the culture here is varied. No one likes to be stereotyped. The Wasatch Front attracts people from all over the world, and we have a diverse cultural, economic, artistic, and religious community.

5-Do check out the mountains around SLC. You don't have to be a hiker or mountain biker to enjoy the scenery and escape the canyons offer. Take a canyon drive up Emigration Canyon and explore the zoo on the way home. Drive up Little Cottonwood Canyon in the autumn and enjoy the colorful fall leaves. You can enjoy a lakeside picnic at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon, near Brighton, at Silver Lake.

6-Do enjoy the local dining, which includes fare from all over the world. You can find excellent Indian food, old-time Pioneer favorites, and succulent sushi in the center of downtown. There are several upscale restaurants in the southeast part of the valley and chic bistros in the avenues. Whatever your heart hankers for, you can find it if you only know where to look.
