Do Your Bit For The Local Community

By:

Doing your bit, whoever or whatever it is for, does not have to be a chore or something you even have to particularly take time out of your way to do, in many cases it is a lifestyle choice and can bring about fulfilment for all parties. CSR or Corporate Social Responsibility is an all encompassing term on this subject and can be used to describe anything from a recycling scheme at work or making provisions for staff to walk, to setting up a community project, offering work experience to disadvantaged teenagers or offsetting carbon emissions in some way.

The great thing about corporate social responsibility is the fact that a lot of large organisations have really got on board with it and are offering some fantastic schemes both for employees and for the local community and residents and because of this, it is becoming easier and easier to get involved as a member of the public. Gone are the days of the faceless corporation, one which was solely out to make money no matter what the consequences, nowadays companies need to interact with consumers and with the place they have chosen to set up office.

This communication has been brought about in large part to the internet and to social networking, as well as because people are no longer simply happy to trust in one brand as they did in the olden days but want instead to have the option to choose between the many global brands that offer the same or similar services. Now consumers want to be a part of the business community, to know what goes on behind closed doors and they expect companies to communicate, learn from and give back, after all many are reliant on their local community to stay afloat, to make profit and to succeed.

One of the most popular ways to fulfil CSR duties for companies is to raise environmental awareness through various schemes and projects and at the same time put an environmental policy in place to ensure that they themselves are doing their bit and practicing what they preach. A lot of these projects are aimed at young people and can be taken into schools as well as local community groups to ensure that a wide range of people can learn about how to care for the environment CSR is all about creating mutually beneficial and long-lasting relationships.
