Overindulgence. Almost all of us are guilty of it during the Christmas holidays, when we let our defences down and enjoy ourselves with friends and relatives. Usually we fall foul of the relaxed atmosphere and fall into the trap of eating more. We all need to get some rest and relaxation from time to time so there isn't anything really harmful about doing this. Although its possible our health will suffer just a little bit due to the extra weight we carry around afterwards. Its not uncommon to find many revellers have put on quite a lot of fat once the festivities are over. At the end of the holidays these people are thinking about how to un-do the weight gained.
For most people, such a long binge is a once a year thing and can be fairly easily dealt with if they return to their usual ways of eating but add in just a bit of willpower. The New Year brings many broken resolutions to
lose Christmas weight because few people are resolute enough to get back to to their old weight as quickly as they could.
A weight loss program will help those that are really serious about
losing weight but how exactly will it do so? I would strongly suggest that you discuss your dieting intentions with your medical practitioner before you begin but a good diet program should have the following:
Make safe, downward changes to your calories. Its important to make the adjustment back to at least your previous quantities and types of foods and then swiftly to an amount about 20% lower than before. The good news is that since any overeating has usually only been for those
special occassions it can be easier to re-adjust once you return to normal life.
Consume more fruit and nuts. Many people will buy more of these over the Christmas period anyway and it is a good idea to make this a year round tradition and not just one for the holidays.
Get some exercise. If you can manage to do about 30 minutes of relatively strenuous walking each day then that is a great start. Not only will such an easy start to an exercise regime make you feel great and get you to places you wouldnt usually go but it will use up around 1500 more calories over the course of a week.
Dump carbonated drinks and fruit juices. Most people know that many carbonated soft drinks contain high levels of sugar, with some brands having up to 40% of our daily-recommended intake in just one can!
The key to being able to lose your Christmas weight, or weight gained at any time, is to be determined until you get results. The easiest way to
lose Christmas weight is to make sure you have a plan and crucially make sure you abide by it. If you do this youll get to the weight you want to be.
