To successfully become a WAHM, it is important to have the right attitude, personality, and qualities. It is vital that one evaluates her ability to work at home amidst possible distractions and interruptions brought about by the fact that she has to play the role of a mother in her family.

You need to have great organizational skills in order to work from home. That simply means that you have to organize everything in order to get your job done. You also have to be flexible to be a WAHM. Things are going to happen that are out of your control. Your kids may get sick, your washer may break, or you may not get paid on time but it will be alright.

Say yes when you can but also say no when you have to. You need to learn to say "no" if you want to succeed as a work at home mom. Some people may think that since you are home, you are able to do things at your child's school or watch other people's children. Not everybody will recognize your contributions to your loved ones. You can be flexible and take what comes your way, which may mean changing plans as necessary but you also have to say no sometimes.

You have to practice self-discipline to become a successful WAHM. There will be plenty of temptations in your home such as television or your bed, but giving in to those temptations will not allow you to succeed. It is very important for you to be self-diciplined. You have to motivate yourself because no one else will do it for you.

You need self-motivation to be a WAHM as much as you need to be disciplined. You can't be disciplined if you are not self-motivated. It will be a struggle to get up every morning and start to work so you must find enough motivation to push you. You won't have a boss who is looking over your shoulder to motivate you. If you're self motivated, you will be able to balance your work and home life.

You have to be able to multi-task to be a WAHM. You are going to be handling your children, the chores around your home, and your work. It is critical to learn how to finish everything without giving yourself unnecessary stress. You can't stress if things are not perfect. If you are easily overwhelmed, you may not have the right personality to be a WAHM.

Lastly, you must learn to depend on yourself alone. You need an entrepreneurial drive, which means you can work on your own and you are willing to take risks.
