Do You Need To Manage Your Body Hair?

By:

It's a known fact that virtually everyone is self-conscious about at least some portion of their appearance. Some of those things are in our control, while many others are not. Because we're all mammals, we all have body hair. In most of us, it is easily managed with a razor and a pair of tweezers.

But that's not the case for everyone. The guys out there tend to take for granted that their natural hair should be accepted. That can only be taken to a point, though. Do you need to step it up on grooming your body hair? Let's find out.

First of all, let's be considerate of your significant other's wishes. In our modern age, everyone is urged to be themselves and be comfortable in their own skin. Those principles are certainly important to getting fulfillment out your overall life, and it may be problematic if your spouse or girlfriend is constantly nagging you to make drastic physical changes, but if that isn't the case, then you may want to sit down with her for a quick consultation on her opinion.

Would she like you to trim underarm hair? Keep your beard cleaner and closer? Be open to her suggestions. If you aren't sure if you're comfortable with them, don't worry--the great thing about hair is that it will grow back!

Still feeling skeptical? You don't have to go all the way. For example, my spouse and I discussed having his back waxed (he's a pretty furry guy), but then he shied away because it felt like a "feminine" measure to take--not to mention he was concerned about the pain. Instead, I used the buzzers to smooth out his skin, totally pain-free.

Remember that swimsuit and sandal season is coming up, so try to evaluate how you will feel lounging poolside in the coming months. As mentioned earlier, some strategic trimming will frequently solve the problem, but if you're looking to be totally smooth, waxing is generally the way to go--and it lasts longer than other common hair removal methods. While some people find it painful, it is over quickly, and it can be relaxing.

Are you looking for something long-term, even permanent? Laser hair removal is definitely the way to get it groomed for good. Most men opt to do this because other hair removal methods cause irritation, such as persistent ingrown hairs. Or, in other cases, the maintenance--waxing, tweezing, shaving--gets obnoxious and re-growth between maintenance is unattractive.

If this is an option you are considering, now is a great time to get started because it takes several sessions to achieve desired results, so you'll be good to go just in time for summer.
