Do You Need A Special Antenna To Receive Terrestrial Digital Television?

By:

For the terrestrial digital TV a normal antenna is used. As soon as you get the antenna you should pay attention to several things like: if there are several transmitters that simultaneously transmit the same signal at the same frequency; the antennas of array type are weaker and therefore the received signal may be weaker; the use of omnidirectional antenna can lead to poor performance and poor reception because of the interference caused by other antennas near it; the array antenna type are offered with the quality of digital antennas.

There are some conditions that can affect the adoption of the channels on your TV and can lead to the following temporary or permanent problems: poor picture quality; freezing the picture; blocked or intermitted picture; missing channels; no reception of signal. Digital signals are very sensitive to the place of acceptance and the surrounding area and they are usually influenced by the following factors, especially in poor signal reception in this area: inadequate use of aerial amplifiers (or boosters of the signal); inappropriate or improperly installed antenna; poor quality cables; radio transmitters in the area; electromagnetic fields caused by household appliances (light switches, computers, thermostats) in your home or your neighborhood; motorcycles, cars or planes passing nearby; high trees; poorly connected cables; bad weather.

You should check the signal quality-signal which is lower than 50% in many cases will cause problems in the adoption. Most DVD plugins allow you to check the signal quality. You should read more about this in the book of your DVB box. You can check the signal quality of the DVB-T if you follow the procedure which is in the instructions of the TV.

Problems with the antenna and TV reception.

Digital broadcasting is delivered by TV antenna so, if you are sure that your area has coverage, you can simply connect the antenna to your digital TV or DVB plugin (in case your TV does not have a digital tuner) or digital television recorder. In some cases you will need to purchase a new compatible broadband antenna to receive digital terrestrial TV signal in a given area. A broadband antenna in this case will give you access to digital TV services. If possible, install an external antenna, not indoor antenna. Installing the internal antenna can lead to reduction of the strength of the received signal. Antennas for at attics and portable antennas for placing on the TV can work in areas where there is a good signal but they can be exposed to electromagnetic interference from other household appliances. However, if for some reason you cannot use an external antenna (for example, if there is a ban for outdoor installations under the terms of use of the building) installation of a broadband antenna with high coefficient of amplification in the attic may be the only opportunity for good quality of television.
