Do You Know These 5 Dieting Myths

You will stumble upon several dieting myths while surfing the internet or reading a magazine. Everybody seems to have a different opinion when it comes to losing weight and dieting. You can easily be fooled by diets that appear marvelous which in fact are very unhealthy. Here are merely 5 dieting myths than can create grave health problems:

1) Virgin olive oil has fewer calories than other cooking oils: this is so wrong. Olive, sunflower seeds, nuts, peanut, corn oil and all oils contain almost the equivalent number of calories in spite of form what they are made. Virgin olive oil contains about 900 calories and it is made completely of fats. But virgin olive oil is much additional good for your health than any other cooking oil you can ever use. It helps reduce the amount of unhealthy cholesterol form your body while keeping the good cholesterol level at a good for you level.. If you have a unhealthy smelling mouth, gum problems and not so white teeth you can take a spoon of olive oil and keep it in your mouth to fix those problems. It works super fine. You should try it.

2) All the vitamins and minerals are found in the skin of the fruit: it is a widespread idea that the majority of vitamins and minerals found in fruits is concentrate in their peel. In fact the majority of the vitamins and minerals found in fruits are in the fleshy tissue of the fruit not in the peel.. But you should think twice before throwing away the skin. The peel also contains vitamins and minerals. Why throw them away when you can give them to your body.The fibers found in the peel help your digestive system work better and put a stop to constipation.

3) Spinach is the greatest source of iron: this dieting myth is as old as the world. We know it form out mothers and our mothers know it from their mothers. The scientific truth is unfortunately that spinach isn't the top source of iron. Spinach is made 90% out of water and the iron contents is of roughly 4mg per 100 grams. From 100 grams of parsley you will get 10 mg of iron and form 100 grams of liver you will get 15 mg of iron. And there are much extra foods that contain more iron than spinach does .

4) Lemons are the top source of vitamin C:it is true that lemons contain plenty of vitamin C, approximately 75mg per 100 grams, but there are other fruits and vegetables that give you even more vitamin C when you eat them: cabbage, dill, blackberries... Rose hips contain the largest quantity of vitamin C, especially their pulp which contains more than 200mg of vitamin C per 100 grams. Another myth related to this one is that the fruits must be green and sour to contain loads of vitamin C. On the contrary they have to be as ripened and exposed to the sun as possible to contain plenty of vitamin C.

5) You get less minerals and vitamins form frozen vegetables than from fresh vegetables: on the contrary. Frozen vegetables, because they are frozen quickly after they are harvested, suffer fewer vitamin and mineral losses. Fresh vegetables, which are kept for days in crates for days, get damaged and start to lose the vitamins and minerals they contain. If you have a garden and you have just picked the fruits and vegetables you are eating the situation is very different then.
