Do You Know The "secret Formula" For Reaching Your Weight Loss Goals?

By:

The Wellness Formula serves as a simple, practical tool to help you address your weight loss goals in a different (more successful) way than most common approaches.

The Wellness Formula is a simple explanation of how health and optimal function are created and how we move away from, or lose, our health. What does this have to do with weight loss, fat loss and achieving an optimal body composition? A more trim and lean body is the natural by-product of better health and function.

The Wellness Formula features a sliding visual scale known as the Dynamic Scale of Health. It's "dynamic" because we are always moving along the scale, either toward health or away from it. At the far right end are optimal function and health, defined as consistent homeostatic cell function. At the far left end is lack of function or death.

Just before the far left end of the scale is an area known as chronic illness. This is an area that researchers tell us is responsible for approximately 75-80% of all deaths and includes illnesses such as cancer, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, arthritis, digestive disorders, depression and anxiety disorders, infertility and reproductive disorders, learning and attention disorders and so on.

Researchers also tell us that 99% of these chronic illnesses are preventable. This means that we are not doomed by fate, or genetics, to develop these illnesses. Rather, our lifestyle choices, and the environment we are exposed to consistently, is what determines whether we're moving toward health or away from it.

When we make nutritional, movement and mindset choices that meet the innate requirements of our cells, our cells respond with an optimal expression of health. These choices are considered pure and sufficient - "the "right stuff" for the cells and enough of it. On the other hand, when we provide toxic and deficient choices, we move away from health on the scale.

When toxicity is introduced, the physiological stress response is initiated. It's a perfectly normal adaptation made by the brain and nervous system in response to the stressful (toxic or deficient) environment we've created or are exposed to. Essentially, it's the fight or flight response. The challenge is that this response is health-promoting and life-saving only when it's a short term, temporary response. In modern times, we see people living in this stress response for much of their lives!

When we trigger this physiological stress response with toxic input, one of the many effects is that stress hormones, like cortisol, are released. Most people who have been battling weight issues are familiar with cortisol. It's the hormone that causes us to gain weight, particularly around our mid sections, and have a tough time losing it.

Unless we remove the toxic stimuli, we'll keep pumping out stress hormones and we'll actually crave more fat and sugar so the body can make more of the hormones. It's a vicious cycle!

What are toxic (and deficient) stimuli that trigger this stress response and cause us to gain weight and not be able to lose it? In the area of nutrition, toxic choices can be anything that is not "real" food, whole food, food in its closest form to what's found in nature, and food that is not pure. Unfortunately, the vast majority of "diet", low-fat, fat-free and sugar-free foods fall into the category of toxic choices. How ironic!

When it comes to movement, the most profound toxic choice is sedentary living. If we're not regularly moving, we are perpetuating the stress response. Finally, regarding mindset and our emotional/mental health, toxic choices can be anything that is not consistent with a state of joy, balance, unconditional love of self, gratitude, forgiveness and so on. You can imagine how often we create toxicity in this area!

When it comes to weight loss, we can diet and exercise until we're blue in the face. But, if we're still making toxic choices we will continue to trigger the physiological stress response and sabotage our well-intentioned efforts.

Not only will you improve your overall health and function by making better choices in nutrition, movement and mindset, but you'll dramatically improve your chances of achieving your optimal body composition. That being said, I recommend that you focus on Health FIRST. A better body is the natural by-product to better health!
