Do You Have To Have An Account To Use A Courier?

By:

It should be obvious that not everyone that is out there has an account with a courier company. That aside, at one point or another, almost everyone will have a need at some point in time to have a courier make a delivery for them. So the question about whether or not an Albuquerque courier will require you to have an account before you can ship with them becomes obvious. Although some may, it is safe to say that anyone without a courier account will be able to find a sufficient shipping option by simply spending a little time looking around for a courier.

This isn't to say that there aren't still courier companies out there that are going to require you to have an account to ship with them. These certainly still exist. Typically, these are smaller types of courier companies that usually only serve business clients. Often companies like this are at their maximum capacity for how many clients they can fit into a scheduled service, which is why they require application for an account before agreeing to move your goods for you.

If you want to ship with a courier company without opening an account first, then the one thing that you have to prepare yourself for is that you're going to have to pay for all your shipping before it ever leaves your location. When you have an account, they can simply bill shipping to your account. However, in order to protect themselves against payment defaults, almost every courier will require upfront payment for non-account holding shippers.

There are other reasons that you may want to be thinking about opening an account even though you may be able to ship without one. When you have a courier account, you will have access to the great software that courier companies use to allow their customers to electronically do business with them. This might provide you with great features like inventory monitoring and order placement online, something which many people appreciate.

There are also some courier companies who provide their account holders with preferred rates, especially if they stick with them over a long period of time. That, coupled with the other potential benefits does make a strong case for opening an account. If you feel that your company is going to need to ship even on a semi-regular basis, it is worth thinking about opening a courier account.
