Do You Have A Passion For Electric Guitars?

By:

Playing an instrument or at least understanding how music is put together and what constitutes a good tune or rhythm is a rare gift to have. Not everyone can just walk into a music store, scour the racks for their favourite electric guitars and then pick it up, plug it in to an amp and let rip with a solo. Regardless of how cynical you are, listening to someone who is truly talented with a musical instrument is a real joy.

When you are young there is plenty of time to pick up any instrument and work out which one you would like to play. Perhaps you like more than one and have a natural ability to play many instruments? Or perhaps you prefer to stick to one? Maybe the piano or electric guitars are your favourites? It is true to say that the music we grow up with does influence our musical taste in the future. So perhaps it also influences the kind of instrument we would like to learn to play too.

As previously mentioned, when one is younger, there seems to be more time as your only commitments are to school and homework. As such there is plenty of opportunity to learn to play an instrument and develop your skills to a higher level. In music, the levels are known as grades and to excel one must complete a number of these.

The wonderful thing about musical instruments is that they are unisex, cool instruments can be played by boys and girls alike. In the past, some instruments have been associated with certain genders, but today it is easy to shake off these stereotypes and many women have made a successful career out of playing electric guitars and similar instruments that some may consider male.

The influences that one is exposed to when one is growing up do have a lasting effect, all the way from which football team you support (if any) to which instrument you prefer to play. There are many of us who feel that we have missed an opportunity when we were younger to learn an instrument. However, although it is easier to learn anything when we are younger, this doesnt mean we cannot achieve the same goals at a later point in our lives. The only thing that holds us back is a lack of time and possibly confidence.

Looking at the electric guitars in the shop window is just the start. The dedication and commitment, not to mention energy that is required to learn a new instrument from scratch is quite daunting. But it is a challenge, and challenges should be faced head on, the rewards will be worth all the toil and sore fingers and broken strings. Cast your mind into the future when you are no longer looking at the electric guitars in the window but actually picking one out to take home. You could easily locate some people in your area with similar interests to help you become more accustomed to playing as part of a band when you are progressing well individually.
