Do Valentines Day Your Way

By:

Valentines Day is the ultimate day for romance; for little tokens of affection, sweet nothings, and plenty of those traditional red roses. However, what if all these cliched gifts clash with your romance style? What if your personality calls for something a little more out there? Don't feel penned in by the suggested notions of how to celebrate Valentines Day try something new, after all, there are no rules!

It is easy to make assumptions about gender-specific interests, but we all know people are individual and in fact, everyone has different hobbies. This Valentines Day, don't be afraid to pander to those, whatever they may be. For instance, if the woman in your life loves super-cars and adventurous pursuits, then forget the heart-holding teddy bears and treat her to a race around the track at Silverstone. She'll really see that you know her well when you present her with this adrenaline-busting day out. Of course, this is also a great option for the fella in your relationship, who probably tolerates the mushy motives of Valentines Day, but still wants to be shown you're thinking of him.

The sentiments of Valentines Day shouldn't just last for the one day. Expressions of love ought to last all year! If your other half has a love of wine or food, then a gourmet subscription is a great way to say I am thinking of you, in a unique way. Every month a delicious wine, cut of meat or something else that matches their culinary interests is delivered to the door. Anyone who loves cooking or learning about wine will appreciate how thoughtful that gift is, and every month they'll have something new to look forward to.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with traditional romantic displays of affection, of course, but why not think outside the box? A dawn ride in a hot air balloon is the ultimate romantic experience, and certainly beats the stock-standard box of chocolates and red roses. Although... you might like to present those to your beloved while you're gently flying across the countryside. Why not? It's Valentines Day! This will be an incredible ride and one you'll both be able to talk about for years to come.

Whether you give someone a gift or take them out for the day, the key is to do something which is personal to the recipient. Show the love of your life that you care. Make Valentines Day all about you and your other half. Whoever you are, whatever your interests, those should be celebrated, together, on February 14th. Just remember that there are 364 other days during the year to celebrate these too but come Valentines Day, it's always worth doing something a little special.
