Shared involvement will frequently cement a relationship, as do common values and beliefs. Some couples appear made for one another but there is an large amount of couples that leave you curious as to how they got put together in the first instance.

He votes democratic, she does not vote ever. She enjoys cats, he's supersensitive to them. He's a party animal, she would preferably stay at the household with a great book. You know these couples they are all over the place. But what does the research say?
An article by David Partenheimer on the American Psychological Association's internet site, drafts an extensive couples analysis by the University of IA. Psychologist Eva C. Klohnen, together with postgraduate student Shanhong Luo, viewed 274 newlywed couples to analyze "assortative pairing results" based on alike or opposite features.

The survey exposed that the couples had "highly similar" values and attitudes but "they possessed little or no above-chance similarity on personality-associated areas such as attachment, extraversion, mindfulness and positive or negative emotions. There is no scientific proof that opposites do in fact attract. What is most fascinating is that when the investigators evaluated matrimonial quality and happiness, they determined that personality resemblance was associated with marital gratification, but attitude similarity wasn't".

The origin place of where couples first met also weighed in on compatibility. Online dating is one such location where men and women get to choose from a broad selection of public singles profiles allowing members to decide on whether they like someone similar to themselves or someone with a contrasting personality. A recent poll indication that 62% of men and women who looked for love online were attracted to contrasting personalities.

But immune systems and lifetime measures are two very dissimilar matters.
