Having an account with a courier company before you ship with them has, by and large, become the generally accepted way of business when it comes to shipping operations. However, for some companies this might seem impractical, or they might feel that they aren't ready to open an account with any given courier. Additionally, without an account you are going to, in many cases, be subject to higher rates than people that have accounts. Couriers will sometimes offer better rates to their account holders in order to entice people to sign up. The good news is that it's extremely easy to sign up for a courier account. It only takes a few minutes, and with most courier companies out there you can now even sign up for an account on the internet, saving you even more time.

If you're convinced that you don't want to open an account though, you should still be able to find a courier willing to carry your goods. You will probably have to pay for all of your shipping ahead of time however, as delayed billing is typically an option that they only extend to those individuals that have opened an account. Shipping without an account can be useful for evaluating couriers if you're planning on opening an account later.
