Do Crunches And Sit Ups Help You Lose Body Fat?

By:

To better understand how you need to approach fat loss, imagine your body is similar to that of a car. You can't start a car with the gears in reverse. It will just seize up and die. The same is true with your body. Doing crunches and sit ups to lose stomach fat won't solve your problem; if anything it will just frustrate you, like it did me. What you need to understand is that lose fat you have to start from the inside and work your way out. What this means is what you put in your body determines how your body will look on the outside and how it will perform overall. Getting back to the car metaphor, putting diesel gas into a car that doesn't take diesel will not allow your car to function properly. Your body works on the same principles. If all you eat is trash and junk, your body will not be able to perform (read: survive) the way it should. This is why your body can't and won't lose the weight and why crunches aren't the solution.

Another way to look at it is like your body is a giant slap of concrete and you are going to sculpt the perfect body out of it. First you need to chip away all the chunks that you are not going to need. This is where proper nutrition comes in. It will help you lose those chunks. Once you have eliminated all the excess, now you are ready to start with the detailing; this is where crunches, sit ups and working out comes in.

So you see, working backwards doesn't help you out at all. Losing weight is not difficult to do and anyone can do it, now that you know how to properly set about doing it.

So, what's the next step? That would be your first step and that's to explore how you can change your diet. Most of it is pretty obvious in terms of whether or not they are good for you, but there are many foods out there with abilities to help you shed the pounds that are not that well known. The trick is not to tell yourself you can't have this or that, but to find healthier alternatives to those meals. A "burger" from McDonalds will never be good for you, but there are plenty of ways to make a hamburger very healthy and a great part of your diet.

Another thing you are going to need to start correctly is the right attitude. This is very much a mental challenge you are going to face. So many people give up far too early because they were never in the proper frame of mind to begin with. To help you get in the right frame of mind you need to establish goals and visualize, even just roughly, how you want your body to look. Having an idea of where you are going is really going to help. From there on, it's win the small battles. Losing weight doesn't happen over night, but it doesn't need to take long to lose it either. You can lose substantial weight from anywhere of 7-12 months, if you break it down into smaller goals.
