Do Courier Services Package Their Customers Shipments?

Chicago courier service companies are not generally in the business of limiting the services that they offer to their customers. However, there are some things that virtually all courier companies will not do, for legitimate reasons. One is delivering contraband items such as weapons or illegal narcotics. Another thing that courier companies almost universally will not do is package your shipment for you.

When a courier company packages your shipment for you, they assume a certain level of liability. For insurance purposes, most companies are not willing to take on this risk. So, they require any package that they deliver to be packaged before they pick it up.

Another reason for packing your own goods is so that you know what it is the package, and that it was indeed packed properly. Mistakes can be made. If you are shipping something that is fragile or valuable, you really don't want to entrust the task of packing it to someone else when you can do it yourself and be assured that it was done correctly.

Although these companies will not package the shipment for you, that does not mean that help is not available. The delivery offices of most every courier company stock an assortment of packing material that you can purchase. If you are not sure what kinds of materials you will need, then the employees can help you select what you need to be sure that your goods arrive at their destination in perfect condition. They can even give you advice on how to use the materials properly.

The goal of a courier service is to deliver your package safely and quickly. Because of this, there is no time for delivery personnel to spend packing your shipment. Delivery drivers are on a strict and tight time table that leaves no extra time to stop and pack a box for you.

When it comes to packing your shipment, Chicago courier service will require you to do that yourself. There are several reasons for this. One is that they do not want to be liable for shipments that were not packaged correctly. It is a better idea for you to make sure that the shipment is packaged correctly. They also do not have time to pack your shipment, as the drivers run on a tight schedule designed to maximize efficiency. However, the company can sell you any of the materials you might need.
