Diversifying Your Online Income

By:

Diversifying your online income is one of the essential things you should learn when you have a website.

What if most of your ads are with Google AdSense. Lets suppose it makes up 90% of your website's earnings. Now suppose that Google suspends your account! What would you do if you lose 90% of your websites income? Can you recover your losses immediately? For most people, they would not bounce back so quickly.

Therefore if you have a website, you should expand your earnings by not only making use of Pay Per Click sponsors, but also use a Direct Leads sponsor, a "cost per action" sponsor, or by promoting products or services and be paid a commission for it.

You also need to view the performance of your website. Make certain that you are regularly checking your stats to see which banners and ads are performing the best and switch the ones that aren't getting good results. Alternating you banners every few months is also a wise idea. One must to do this because your visitors will soon overlook all your ads and banners as they become banner blind. This means that they mentally block out your ads after repeatedly seeing them over and over again. Consistently changing your ads and banners can prevent this from occurring.

Diversifying your online income also consists of creating other sites. At this time, I have more than a few sites that I generate earnings from. A few months back, Google banned one of my websites from their search engine! Among internet marketers, this is a familiar occurrence, known as a Google slap. Apparently my website had too many outgoing links to sponsor ads and they considered it a "link farm". However that site at the time was raking in something like $1000 per month. Imagine what could have happened if I didnt have my other sites to make up for that lost income? It could have been disastrous.

Havingyour sites on various servers is another way of increasing your online earnings. The market is currently offering good quality hosting at very low prices. Lets suppose you hosted one or two of your websites on a $5.99 a month server and paid for a year's worth of hosting. You would be doing the right thing. Not only does it have search engine benefits, but if one of your servers should go down, not all of your websites are down at once, and your income would not stop suddenly.

So remember to diversify your income and you'll be happy when you're having a slow sales month on one of your affiliate programs, because all of the other ones may just pick up the slack!
