Distance Learning At Phd Level.

Distance Learning At Phd Level.

By:

Distance learning is a form of education where people learn from wherever they are as long they have access to a computer and internet. This means they do not have to attend classes physically and can do degrees even from other countries because it is not limited to local universities only. The students are able to communicate with the lecturers directly in case they come across any problem. This form of learning is mostly preferred by PhD students. This is because by the time they are doing their PhD degrees they are employed or are in self employment; hence it is difficult to attend classes physically. There are other advantages that make PhD students choose this form of learning over the usual system.
One advantage is cost. Since one learns from the comfort of their offices or homes, the cost of traveling is not incurred. Also when one goes to class physically, they may need to buy books, pay for library costs in order to do research and other costs since they are using university facilities. But when doing online learning one just needs a computer and the internet and they can be able to do their research at a cheaper cost. Costs of fuel, fare, visas, accommodation and other inconveniences are incurred in case they have to do the traditional way of learning or even travel to another country. While when doing distance learning PhD students avoid all these costs. The computers they buy to do their learning can also be used to do other businesses or even in the office which at the end of the day is cheaper.
Time is the other advantage that makes PhD students prefer this form of learning as it is very important to them. Because they are in employment, it is tricky for them to get time to attend classes in the usual system. Online learning allows them to study at their comfortable time according to how their jobs are. For example, they can study early in the morning before going to the office, during lunch breaks, at night or even on weekends. Mostly at these times the traditional educational systems do not run classes. At this level of education a lot of research is needed hence one does not waste time leaving the class to go do research in the library or internet as they can research on the internet and study at the same time. Because one has to travel, time wasted on the traffic is saved.
These universities also benefit from the profits they get from the websites they use due to virtual traffic. This money can be used to offer high quality services to the students. Though this form of learning is mostly done by PhD students, people who are at different levels of learning like diploma, degree, and masters can also do it. There are many excellent opportunities for learning through online programs and there are many successful individuals who have achieved their academic goals through this system.
