Public dispute resolution regulations refer to regulations put in place by law making agencies of the country. It could be federal, state, or municipal or any such authority whoever has the territorial jurisdiction in respect of the particular territory. Private regulations are those put in place by the commercial organizations and industries, for internal dispute resolutions.

One of the basic requirements of dispute resolution is that it should be efficient and achieved in a timely manner. As it is said that justice delayed is justice denied, quick dispute resolution is not only ethical but can also save a lot of unnecessary losses for the disputing parties. An example is the Federal system of Visa issuance and the disputes relating to them. As part of this process it is expedient that all the merchants respond quickly to copy requests as well as the charge backs.

Usually a copy request that is also known as retrieval request is made by issuer of the card to acquirer. This practice is invoked when copy of sales receipt would be required for the particular transaction. On the other hand the chargeback is reversal of financial liability, also known as the dollar value either in whole or in part. It refers to the particular transaction carried out between the issuer and acquirer. Normal process involves a merchant bank and the merchant.

Charge backs arise due to multiple reasons and the primary reasons among the m is the dispute between the customers and the provider. In either case, dispute resolution regulation put in place by the public or private authorities come up handy in finding out solutions.
