Discussion Topics For Older Folks

By:

I'm 67 so I guess I would be considered an old person. I used to say if I couldn't find my birth certificate I wouldn't know how to act. I feel pretty good these days so I guess I'm lucky.

Anyway when I get together with others my age the discussion always gets to health. Recent sicknesses, hospital visits, aches and pains, that sort of thing. The other day we were together trying to solve the problems of the world, you know peace in the Middle East, that sort of thing and what came up was medication, both over the counter and prescriptions. There seems to be a consensus of opinion that most of us either don't know if whatever we are taking is doing any good or not.

Most of the research available is contradictive to say the least. Doctors tend to disagree on the benefits of certain vitamins and supplements in terms of how much good they do, if in fact they do any good at all. Most doctors don't even want to discuss supplements. We spend a tremendous amount of money on these items hopping that they will help even to the point that were not sure but we keep taking them regardless.

We are constantly looking for ways to look younger, feel better, lose weight etc. This predicament isn't only for those getting older, it's for everybody. We are told we are a country of obese people regardless of age. We have to crack down on our kids. All they do is sit in front of the computer or game players and they certainly don't get enough exercise. We are always it seems in a quandary about what to do in these situations. It dawned on me one day that all the medication this country takes both OTC and prescription is not of the "one size fits all" category.

Then I found a company that actually customizes the vitamins to suit the individuality in all of us. This is apparently done based on simple test results. What will they think of next? At any rate I am definitely going to look into this. It makes more sense than anything I've seen lately.

When it's considered how much money everybody in this country and around the world spends on vitamins and supplements it is truly amazing that there isn't more specific information and direction for people to trust in what exactly they are taking.
