So picking the HDMI cable that is most up to date will make a big difference to your HD quality.

One of the wrong ideas out floating around is that the price of the HDMI cable makes a huge difference in the cable. There are claims out there that the more expensive the brand the better the performance will be, but reality is a cable that costs $20 is as good a performer as a cable priced at $100. There is an exception to this though, anything that is priced way under the market may be too good to be true, just like any other product that is underpriced, you need to do your research to make sure what you are purchasing.
