Third significant lesson in building strong relationships in a team is to ensure that team members understand the importance in being accountable for their actions. All team members including the team leader must ensure in taking responsibilities for their actions in the team successes and failures.

For example, John, the team leader, refuses to listen to his team members opinions on improving their working conditions. At the end of the year, the team did not produce results and John started blaming his team members for the lack of results. An important lesson here is the team leader, John in this case, must take the ownership that he is partly or wholly responsible for the team failures and successes.
