Getting rid of acne scars can be quite difficult if the acne is not controlled in its earlier stages. However, there are many different ways to get rid of acne scarring naturally that are inexpensive and effective.

Lemon juice is an excellent home remedy to treat acne and it can be taken orally or it can be applied topically to the affected areas. Drinking lemon juice helps to detoxify your liver and improve your immune system and both improvements to your overall health will increase your natural defenses against acne. If you apply the lemon juice topically to the areas affected, it will be acting as an antiseptic. Apply with a cotton swap or clean cloth and feel free to dilute the juice if you experience a stinging sensation. If the lemon juice is allowed to stay on overnight, you'll get a better result.

Mix lemon juice with orange rind. Grind the orange rind into the lemon juice with a mortar and pestle. Mix with baking soda to make a past and apply to lesions. Alternatively, some people have good results with applying plain lemon juice twice daily to their face.

Drinking more water hydrates your skin and helps clear away acne faster.
Water nourishes the largest organ of your body i.e. your skin. The herb burdock acts as an astringent and eliminates excessive oils that clog pores and cause the skin to break out. Combine two cups of water with two cups of burdock root and then boil it. Then reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes. Place a clean wash cloth into the mixture. Use the cloth as a compress for the affected areas. Leave it on the skin until it cools off. Dip the wash cloth into the mixture again and repeat the process. Leave the compress on the skin for 15 minutes. Keep the mixture hot for best results. It can take a few weeks for this remedy to work

If you must use makeup, be sure to use water based, noncomedogenic (they don't promote the forming of closed pores) makeup instead of oil-based. Read the label to see if the makeup is water- or oil-based. Try to use powder blushes and loose powders instead of liquid foundation.

Nutmeg is another useful home remedy for pimples and acne. Rub nutmeg on a stone with raw milk. Apply this paste on the affected areas. Let it dry. Then wash your face with lukewarm water. You can apply this paste in the night and wash it in the morning. Apply twice a day.
