Dining With A View Of The City

By:

What are some of the special dinners you remember? Where they romantic dinners with a singular someone spend on the top floor of an amazing San Francisco Restaurant with a view? Was it an intimate dinner spent with your family on Thanksgiving. Do you remember best the rowdy barbeques spent with friends? Could if have been that first dinner at home with a new baby? Maybe the dinner you remember best the night before a wedding or a child going away to college. A reunion with an old friend or the farewell with another.

Eating a special dinner is an emotional experience. We equate food with emotions and events. Some people are emotional eaters, eating when lonely, sad, happy, excited, and nervous or just needing comfort food. Some eat when it is cold outside and the warmth of a hearty dinner helps to replace the cold outside. That is a night for soups, thick soups made with cheese and cream, fresh grain bread, and chocolate cake for dessert. Some eat more when it is sunny out, all is good with the world, and it is time to celebrate that goodness. Bring on the fried chicken, the baked beans, and the cold slaw. Top that off with watermelon, a lemon cake strewn with icing. Life is good when sharing a great meal with friends and family.

Why is it you so look forward to Thanksgiving dinner? Is it the juicy turkey, basted with rosemary and basil, fresh out of the oven served with piping hot rolls, at least three kinds of salads, garlic mashed potatoes, green salad, steaming veggies and no less than a dozen pies? Or is it deeper than that? The reason you love thanksgiving is the food, of course, and the people who share it. A good Thanksgiving Day is filled with belonging to something bigger than yourself. Hopefully all the pettiness of the year can be put on a shelf long enough to share a meal with those closest to you.

This is only a dream for some; you might not have family nearby or family at all. For you, you may find yourself with just one or two people to share a special meal with in a San Francisco Restaurant with a view; after all, it only takes two to make an event worth remembering.
