Digging On The Web For Scrappy, Rusted, Bent Atv Parts Turns Ugly

Let me tell you about Saturday and how I wasted literally 11 hours on and off. I had the house to myself and decided to get on the web and have some "me time". This turned into a grueling obsession as I wrestled with Ebay, Craigslist and some other bidding sites that featured some real Kawasaki OEM and ATV parts. The day started out somewhat good. The family was gone and I had the entire house to myself. I turned the computer on and things sort of went downhill fast after that.

I ended up on some pretty rank listings for ATV parts. These are parts that looked like they had been pulled out of a fire - and I mean that, literally. These parts weren't even fit for a junkyard. If I were the owner I would actually consider polishing them up before I handed them over to a junk dealer. These parts would make Fred Sanford blush. In short. They sucked. I have no idea if anybody actually buys this stuff or if they are placed on bidding sites as a joke. They were that bad.

The ATV parts I looked at were dented, cracked, dirty, scummy and in some cases - severely twisted. Some of the bolts were so corroded with rust that they actually stuck to the frames. These parts have been through some harsh treatment. One looked like it survived a serious battle with a blowtorch. I have no idea how anyone could seriously use these on a vehicle. If I had some beat up vehicles and did not mind how the parts would interact with them I would be more relaxed and buy them without much of a thought. But I don't have any scrappy vehicles at home that I mistreat terribly.

I take great care of my ATV's and some of them rarely ever see any rough treatment. So for me to buy parts from a resource like this or even use garbage in general is out of the question. Still I must say that overall I am fascinated with the spectacle of it all. I am astounded that there are people who sell scraps like this online and I am equally fascinated with those who purchase them. I know one thing for sure. I do not want these rusty, junky, questionable pieces of machinery touching my ATV.

I decide that I only want new OEM and ATV parts in any of my vehicles no matter what they cost. At this point I do not care if I have to pay full price and extra on shipping.
