Oral Liquid
It is the refined liquid preparation obtained by extracting drugs by means of water or solvent, which pools up the features of decoction, syrup and injection and has its own merits of small dosage, quick absorption, convenient to use and agreeable taste. There has been an accelerative trend in its development, especially the steady rise in the amount of oral liquid for health care and tonics, e.g. Renshen Fengwangjiang Koufuye, Qiju Dihuang Koufuye, etc.
Injection
It refers to either the aseptic solution, or the aseptic suspension or the aseptic powder for preparing liquid, which has gone through the process of extracting, refining and preparing drugs. It is used for subcutaneous, muscular or intravenous injections, with the characteristics of being accurate in dosage, quick in action and not influenced by the digestive system. It is especially suitable to patients who suffer coma and have difficulty in takingmedicine, e.g. Qingkailing injection, Shengmai injection, etc.
All the forms mentioned above have their respective features and need to be applied clinically in the light of the pathological conditions and the drug properties in a recipe. In addition, such forms as capsule, moxa, press preparation, enema and spray are also widely used. At present the forms of Chinese Patent medicines have amounted to roughly 60 varieties. Moreover many traditional products have got new forms through renovation, which provide convenience for patients and improve clinical effect as well.
